Dunwoody Man Charged in Violent Date Rape in Norcross Area

A Dunwoody man has been charged in a violent date rape at a Norcross-area hotel earlier this month.

Gwinnett County police charged Sayed Hasan Abidi, 31, with rape and aggravated sodomy in the March 3 incident involving a 20-year-old female, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.

Norcross Police Sgt. Bill Grogan said the alleged victim, a 20-year-old female, met 31-year-old Sayed Hasan Abidi a few weeks ago at a night club in Atlanta. After a series of phone calls over the subsequent days, the duo agreed to meet in Norcross on Sunday.

According to Grogan, that's when things went sour.

"The victim reported being offered something to drink by Abidi and recalls little of what transpired over the next eight to 10 hours in a nearby hotel room," he said.
