Dunwoody Nature Center Begins Leadership Program

Applications are now being accepted from rising 9th to 12th graders.

The Dunwoody Nature has launched a Leadership-in-Training and Environmental Stewardship (LITES) program and is now accepting applications from rising 9th to 12th graders who are interested in enhancing their leadership training and environmental awareness through this summer program.

Using a nationally recognized leadership curriculum, LITES will spend the week learning leadership skills while emphasizing nature based problem solving. The goal of the camp is to teach young leaders how to use their natural skills as leaders to address environmental problems, thus encouraging a lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship.

During the week, LITES will learn about leadership, character, and teamwork as they build positive relationships with their fellow LITES. A focus on group interaction and team building activities will provide a foundation for practice and skill development. LITES will also learn about important environmental issues from experts throughout the community who will be able to give them a real world view of the issues and challenges that exist.

By the end of the week, the LITES will be able to define a particular problem or concern, identify available resources, and develop strategies and solutions.
