Violent Crimes Down In Dunwoody In 2016
The Dunwoody Police Department released its 2016 Annual Report that contains specific data about city crime statistics from last year.

DUNWOODY, GA - Things are hardly perfect, but violent crimes were down in Dunwoody in 2016, according to the city police department's 2016 Annual Report.
Published in the first quarter of each year with information about the previous calendar year, the Annual Report contains summary data about crime statistics, year over year crime comparisons, officer activity levels, officer training, department programs, community outreach, and recognition of staff accomplishments.
“I am pleased to present our 2016 Annual Report as a demonstration of our desire to be transparent and open about the activities of our department”, Chief Billy Grogan said in a statement.

According to the report, which was released this week, the city of Dunwoody had no murders in 2016 after recording one in 2015. Overall, there were 83 reported crimes against persons, which was slightly less than the 88 recorded the year before. Crimes against persons are ones that are physical, violent and often high-profile, according the report. Examples of crimes against persons include murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.
Slightly rising, however, were crimes against property, which includes offenses such a burglary, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft. There were 2,067 crimes against property in Dunwoody in 2016, a small increase from the 2,058 from the year before.
