Missing Dunwoody Woman Reunited With Family: Police

Velma Harrison, 80, left her home Wednesday, but didn't arrive at her daughter's house on Thanksgiving morning.

DUNWOODY, GA — A Dunwoody woman reported missing Wednesday made it safely to her daughter's home, according to media reports. Velma Harrison, 80, left her home on Village Oaks Drive on Wednesday to visit her daughter's family in Gwinnett County for Thanksgiving, but her family lost contact with her and she didn't arrive on Thursday morning, say Dunwoody police.

The Dunwoody police put out a Mattie's Call, an emergency missing alert for disabled or elderly persons, and gave a description of the white four-door Acura that Harrison was driving. The alert went out on social media, and on Thursday night, a resident of Rome, in north Georgia, recognized her car from the Mattie's Call and contacted police, WSB-TV Channel 2 reported.

The police believe Harrison became disoriented at some point. On their Facebook page, the Dunwoody police described her as an "overdue motorist." On Wednesday night, they reported that she was seen at a gas station in LaGrange, in western Georgia.
