Parents Urge Action on Traffic Risks at Chesnut and Peachtree Charters

The Dunwoody City Council is set to consider the problems at Monday night's meeting.

A group of parents who are worried about traffic congestion near Chesnut Charter Elementary and Peachtree Charter Middle schools are set to make their case for action at Monday night's Dunwoody City Council meeting.

In a letter to City Councilman John Heneghan, Melissa Marion-Landais of the Chesnut Charter Council said the two schools' zones are not well marked; the schools are within a half mile of I-285; and their proximity to Georgia Perimeter College increases traffic risks in the area.

"You might recall that a year or two back, a 1st grader was ‘grazed’ by a car while IN THE CROSSWALK, HOLDING HANDS with her mother at Brookhurst/N. Peachtree," Landais wrote.
