Suspect Arrested For Robbing Seniors In Metro Atlanta: Police

Clinton Stone, wanted for allegedly distracting and robbing elderly people in metro Atlanta, has been arrested. Herbert Lewis is at large.

DUNWOODY, GA -- A man suspected of targeting elderly metro Atlanta residents and robbing them has been arrested, Dunwoody police announced Tuesday. Clinton Stone was apprehended Monday by Dunwoody detectives with help from the Atlanta Police Department, authorities said.

Stone is currently in the DeKalb County Adult Detention Center.

Authorities released a video clip Friday of two men -- identified by police as Stone and Herbert Lewis -- distracting a 67-year-old elderly disabled veteran in a gas station in Dunwoody then stealing his wallet. Lewis is still at large, police said.

Dunwoody police said the suspects were seen approaching elderly people in stores since 2016 and distracting them just enough to steal their purses and wallets. "In almost every case, the suspects then use the stolen credit cards to make purchases worth hundreds of dollars. The victims are targeted solely because of their age and, in some cases, their health," Police Chief Billy Grogan says in a news release.

In the video released by police, a man identified as Stone distracts the victim, "appearing to help him select a drink from the cooler," Grogan says, while Lewis is seen coming up behind the elderly man. He appears to steal his wallet, police said.
