Police say the man will be charged with felony shoplifting when caught, a report says.

DUNWOODY, GA — Police are asking the public's help in identifying and finding a man caught on camera stealing a puppy from a metro Atlanta Petland store.

At the Ashford-Dunwoody Road Petland Wednesday night, the thief put an expensive French bulldog in a bag and quickly walked out the store, footage shows.

The pup costs $7,000, according to a WSBTV report.

"It would be like kidnapping a baby, honestly," store manager Matt Westlake told Channel 2. "They have developments, they have training that they need, they need nurturing, and honestly if they're not cared for properly it's ultimately detrimental to the puppy itself."

All dogs at the store are chipped, the report said, so hopes are high to find the pup.
