West Nile Virus Mosquitoes Found in Dunwoody
The DeKalb health department is asking people to become more informed on the illness.
Mosquitoes testing positive for West Nile Virus have been collected in Dunwoody, causing the DeKalb Board of Health to urge residents to be extra aware of the illness.
According to the Brookhaven Post, the county has seen an increase in reported cases through Sept. 11:
- 81 WNV positive mosquito collections from 20 locations in DeKalb County
- 30 mosquito trap locations sampled in DeKalb County
- 613 collections of mosquitoes submitted for arbovirus testing
- 208 mosquito trap nights
- 14,729 mosquitoes counted and identified
The department is distributing fliers outlining the symptoms and dangers of the illness, as well as precautions that residents can take.
