BBB Issues Warning on AmeriServ Electrical, Inc.

BBB is warning consumers to be cautious when dealing with AmeriServ Electrical, Inc. The company’s address is listed as 5126 Bristol Industrial Way, Suite 100, Buford, GA 30518-1771. However, complaints sent to that address, and a subsequent post office box, were returned.

We called the company’s telephone number of (678) 225-5669 to inquire about their address. They gave their current address as the one listed in Buford, Georgia.

Mr. Joel Cobb is Chief Executive Officer. Their nature of business is listed as Electricians – Residential and Garage Door Repair. BBB began a file on this firm May 2013. AmeriServ Electrical, Inc. currently has an F rating with BBB due to several complaints that were closed as unresolved or did not receive a response.

BBB has detected a pattern of complaints in our standard 36-month reporting period regarding the business practices of AmeriServ Electrical, Inc. Consumers allege AmeriServ Electrical, Inc. does not honor quoted prices. Consumers are often charged more than $100 over the quoted price. Other allegations include the business services are inferior, defective, or cause more damage and repairmen are late to appointments or never arrive.

In an attempt to resolve the pattern of complaints, our office contacted AmeriServ Electrical, Inc. to address the issues and provide help if needed. To date, the company has not responded nor addressed our concerns regarding customer complaints. Additionally, AmeriServ Electrical, Inc. displays the BBB logo on their website although they are not BBB Accredited would not meet our Standards of Trust. The accredited business logo displayed indicates they have an A+ rating, providing false information to consumers. Our office has contacted them four times regarding their misuse of the BBB logo to no avail. This matter has now been sent to the legal department of our headquarters, the Council of Better Business Bureaus, for their continued handling.

Our office has sent a request to AmeriServ asking for written documentation/substantiation of all advertised claims. We are awaiting a response from the firm.
