Georgia Connections Academy students outperform State Virtual Charters, Score Above State Average on SAT College Admission
Recently released SAT scores by the Georgia Department of Education reveal that GACA is the highest performing virtual charter school in GA.
Recently released SAT scores by the Georgia Department of Education, and analyzed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reveal that Georgia Connections Academy is the highest performing virtual public charter high school in the state, announced Executive Director Heather J. Robinson.
Georgia Connections Academy (GACA), a statewide tuition-free K–12 virtual public school, had an average SAT score of 1477, which is above the state average and places the school in the top 20 percent of all Georgia high schools with reported data. The school has also increased its SAT average score since 2015.
“It is rewarding to see the hard work of our teachers and students reflected in the recently released scores of the college admission tests,” said Executive Director Robinson. “We are incredibly proud of our students and know they will go on to do great things in their college careers.”

More than 18,000 K-12 students are enrolled in a statewide virtual public school in Georgia, and 4,000 attend GACA, which added its high school program in the 2012-13 school year.
GACA also performed on par with the state average on the ACT test, with an average score of 21.2, compared to 21.1 statewide. GACA has consistently been the top academically performing statewide virtual charter high school since 2015, according to SAT and ACT scores released by the Department of Education.

“The classroom is changing. Education is no longer one size fits all—it is about learning through a style and pace that is tailored to an individual student’s strengths, weaknesses and needs,” said Executive Director Robinson. “Students enrolled with Georgia Connections Academy benefit from flexibility in terms of pace and scheduling, an award-winning curriculum, specially trained, Georgia-certified teachers, as well as individualized lesson plans. Georgia Connections Academy provides a high-quality public education to a child in any county, whether in a rural area in the southern part of the state or the urban neighborhoods of Atlanta.”
GACA high school students can also take advantage of unique opportunities to accelerate their learning and course rigor, through dual enrollment programs or Advanced Placement (AP) courses offered at the virtual charter school.
“Why not graduate high school with college credits already completed, so they can study in their career field even sooner? The lines between high school and college are increasingly blurred for advanced learners,” commented Executive Director Robinson.
