Lewis Says He's Running for Re-election

Georgia's longest-serving congressman will run for a 16th term.

John Lewis has told the AJC that he is running for re-election in Georgia’s 5th congressional district, which includes portions of Decatur, Midtown and East Atlanta.

Lewis, 75, is Georgia’s longest-serving member of its congressional delegation.

“Yes, yes. I’m doing it. I’m doing it.” Lewis is quoted in the article. “I know there are a few people who think: ‘Oh, maybe he’s going to give it up.’ But I’m not giving it up. Not now.”

Lewis is a senior member on the House Ways and Means Committee.
