Man Who Ran Over Cop's Foot Now Behind Bars

Should the policeman now be called "Officer Flatfoot?"

ATLANTA, GA -- A man who ran over an Atlanta police officer’s foot on Friday night is now behind bars.

Police were in the Historic Fourth Ward Park, investigating some illegally parked vehicles, when a local resident alerted them to a reckless driver in the area, who had struck several cars.

The officers were not in a vehicle with any emergency equipment, so instead they followed him and coordinated a traffic stop with other units.

“As the vehicle came to a stop at an intersection, officers took action and asked the driver to put the car in park, and turn the vehicle off,” according to a police statement. “The driver did so, but as they approached the vehicle, the driver slammed the vehicle in gear and sped toward one of the officers. The vehicle ran over the officers’ foot and fled the scene.”

Police then found the abandoned vehicle at The Carter Center, and shortly after midnight, found the driver and arrested him on charges of DUI and aggravated assault.
