Amazon To Hire 4,000 Georgians Full- And Part-Time

The online giant announced plans Monday to add 100,000 employees nationwide, with 4,000 in Georgia alone.

GEORGIA — Amazon.com Inc. announced Monday it plans to add 100,000 new full- and part-time jobs across the United States, with 4,000 of them in Georgia.

According to Atlanta Business Chronicle, those new positions are in addition to 33,000 corporate and tech jobs that Amazon announced last week.

The jobs will pay at least $15 an hour to start, In some cities Amazon is offering sign-up bonuses of up to $1,000 to newly hired employees, according to the Chronicle.

Amazon already employs more than 10,500 workers in Georgia alone. The online giant maintains a sizable presence in Georgia, with seven fulfillment and sorting centers, four delivery stations, a tech hub, an air hub and other facilities.

Amazon’s announcement follows the opening earlier in September of a new fulfillment center in Stone Mountain near the Gwinnett-DeKalb county line. The Atlanta business newspaper reported in August that Amazon was considering property north of Interstate 285, also on the Gwinnett-DeKalb county line, to set up a new delivery station.
