Atlanta Falcons Using Drones To Cleanse Stadium Of Coronavirus
Two drones will help sanitize Mercedes-Benz Stadium ahead of Sunday's Atlanta Falcons game against the Carolina Panthers.
ATLANTA, GA — When the Atlanta Falcons greet fans for the first time this season Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be coronavirus clean — thanks to a pair of drones.
Falcons management announced earlier this month that it would use drones spraying disinfectant in place of backpack foggers to more efficiently sanitize the stadium. According to ESPN and other media outlets, that makes Mercedes-Benz Stadium the first professional sports venue to do so.
The Falcons’ website reports that the drones are 14 times more efficient than manually operated foggers, allowing for a 95 percent reduction in time spent cleaning stadium seats.

The drones are supplied by Lucid Drone Technologies of Charlotte, North Carolina, which specializes in this type of coronavirus cleanup.
The drones are the newest addition to the stadium program, which includes daily cleaning with an ionized solution. Additionally, the stadium added a sanitation team for hourly disinfecting, 600 hand sanitizer dispensers and monthly antiviral coating to help reduce the risk of exposure and spread of the virus.

“We have worked tirelessly to provide a safe environment for not only our associates, players and staff, but especially our fans,” said Dietmar Exlar, chief operating officer for AMB Sports and Entertainment, the Falcons’ parent organization.
