Cobb schools already had relaxed their mask mandates in mid-May, making face coverings optional for those who were fully vaccinated. Tuesday’s announcement made no mention of vaccinations.

Cobb County’s announcement follows a similar announcement made on May 24 by Fulton County Schools. Current CDC guidance recommends that those who are unvaccinated continue to wear masks to protect others.
