Cobb School Parents Can Soon Choose Spring Semester Learning Plan

School officials announced that the portal for deciding between in-person and remote learning will be available between Nov. 15 and Nov. 29.

EAST COBB, GA — As Cobb County high school students prepare to begin in-person learning on Thursday, the district is beginning planning for its second semester when parents will again have the option of how their students learn.

District officials announced Monday that parents will have between Nov. 15 and Nov. 29 to select their preferred method of learning for students. As in the fall, parents can either to have their student learn in-person or remotely.

Officials announced that by making their decision by Nov. 29, parents will ensure that the district has enough time to prepare student schedules that meet the individual needs of each student, the district announced in a release on its website Monday. Instructions of how to make selections for individual students will be provided to parents by the opening of the enrollment period on Nov. 15.

Information about sample schedules, meal plans, transportation, after school programs and other school programming can be found at the district’s website for reopening. After beginning the school year fully remote in August, the district began offering some in-person options on Oct. 5 with the exception of at the middle school and high school level. Middle school students were given the option to return to the classroom on Oct. 19 and beginning Thursday, all students will have the choice for in-person learning.

“The safety of our students and teachers is the number one priority,” Cobb Schools Superintendent Chris Ragsdale said in the release. “We remain committed to making decisions based on public health guidance and, knowing this pandemic has impacted each of us differently, to giving parents the ability to choose between a face-to-face and remote learning classroom.”
