Cobb SWAT Team Rescues Woman, Child From Domestic Dispute

MABLETON, GA -- A domestic incident turned violent late Tuesday afternoon as a Cobb County SWAT team pulled a woman and child to safety during a confrontation with an armed suspect inside a Mableton home. According to police, the incident happened around 4 pm in the 300 block of Lane Drive when officers responded to reports of shots being fired. When police arrived, they found one woman, identified only as an elderly female, had been shot.

SWAT officers were then able to rescue the remaining two people inside the home. The suspect was shot and killed during the rescue.

Cobb County Police Chief Michael Register called the SWAT team heroes for their response.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, engaged in gunfire with the SWAT team, which is when he was shot and killed.

None of the names of the other victims involved in the scene have been released.
