Collision Kills Austell Motorcycle Driver: Police
The 26-year-old driver of a motorcycle was killed Tuesday after his bike collided with another car on Austell Road at Seayes Road.
AUSTELL, GA — The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred in Precinct Two on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 5:11 p.m. on Austell Road at Seayes Road.
A black 2017 Suzuki GSXR1300 was travelling south on Austell Road approaching Seayes Road. A black 2016 Nissan Sentra was northbound on Austell Road at Seayes Road. The Nissan initiated a left turn toward Seayes Road and entered the path of the Suzuki. The front of the Suzuki collided with the right side of the Nissan. The collision caused the Nissan to roll. The driver of the Suzuki separated from the Suzuki and stayed in contact with the Nissan.
The driver of the Suzuki was identified as Lawrence Peters, 26, of Austell. Peters died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. Next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the Nissan was identified as Melissa Youngblood, 41, of Lithia Springs. Youngblood was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators believe the speed of the Suzuki contributed to the collision.
