Cumberland CID May Be Expanding

Additional property in the Powers Ferry corridor could be included.

As part of an effort to revitalize the area, the Cumberland Community Improvement District might expand.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that that the proposed expansion would include the stretch of Powers Ferry between Delk and Terrell Mill roads in East Cobb. The CID wants to add 52 commercial properties along Powers Ferry Road in order to generate an additional $135,000 per year to fund various improvements along the road.

Before that happens, 51 percent of property owners who represent at least 75 percent of the property value within the proposed area must agree to pay an additional 5 mills of property taxes, according to the AJC.
