According to the Marietta Daily Journal, valuation appeals are due to the Cobb County Tax Assessor’s Office by June 22. The valuations were sent out on May 8, and were explained by the MDJ as the hypothetical sales price of a home if it were on the market on Jan. 1 of this year.

Tax Assessor’s Office Director Stephen White told the MDJ that his office projects a seven percent increase in most property tax valuations between 2014 and 2015, following a seven percent increase between 2013 and 2014. White said the increases are due to a recovering housing market and a declining number of foreclosures.
