East Cobb Baseball Player Commits to Division I School
Jake Weiss will play collegiate baseball at Eastern Michigan University starting in September of 2015.

An East Cobb resident and lifelong baseball player will get a chance to step up to the plate in Division I college baseball starting in 2015.
Jake Weiss, who attends Walton High School, will officially sign a commitment letter to attend Eastern Michigan University on Wednesday evening.

Weiss has been playing baseball since he was five, and began playing on travel teams when he was 11. He currently plays for the two local baseball teams and a squad based out of Illinois. In 2013, his East Cobb Titans team won a Sandlot World Series national championship.
In July of this year, he participated in Perfect Game’s WWBA World Championship, a tournament which features some of the best rising stars in the game. In seven games, Weiss hit .356 and had a perfect fielding percentage.

In October, Weiss was in East Lansing, MI, competing at a tournament hosted by Michigan State University. He continued his impressive fielding, with four more games of error-free chances in the outfield. He was also impressive with the bat, earning himself a .455 average, a .625 on-base percentage, two home runs, a double, and six RBIs. He also swiped five bases during the tournament.
Away from the diamond, Weiss has earned a 3.5 GPA at Walton, and is a successful fantasy football player.
Weiss will lace up his cleats for the Eagles for the first time in September of 2015 as a freshman.
