One of the potential rewards for spending four years as a high school basketball player is the chance to take a fun trip or two to holiday tournaments during your career. The varsity boys at Wheeler High School, for instance, are going to Hawaii and Myrtle Beach, S.C., this December alone. Sometimes, however, you have to put off vacation plans for the good of the team, a lesson the Walton freshman girls are learning by traveling today not to a warm beach, but to a game at Sprayberry, even as many of their friends are celebrating the start of a two-week break.
