Pennington, known for his exuberant personality and carpentry skills, rose to fame on TLC’s β€œTrading Spaces”, which returned to TLC with the original cast last year. For nearly a decade, he hosted ABC’s β€œExtreme Makeover: Home Edition”, and became well known for his volunteer work and for spotlighting worthy causes. He will be part of the β€œExtreme Makeover” reboot, set to air in early 2020. The TV host, carpenter, author and philanthropist grew up in the greater Atlanta area, graduating from Marietta’s Sprayberry High School, and attending Kennesaw State University and the Art Institute of Atlanta, where he graduated with a degree in graphic design. He has recently authored a new book, β€œLife to the Extreme: How a Chaotic Kid Became America’s Favorite Carpenter”. He will sign copies of his book immediately following his Sunday presentation.

Another special feature of the Fall Atlanta Home Show will be the Outdoor Oasis created by Georgia Landscape, He Shed She Shed, Inc. and Tuff Shed. The large exhibit area will showcase lush planted borders, hardscaping and custom-designed outdoor furniture and sheds, perfect for a quiet retreat, home office, garden/tool house, craft room and more. Gardeners of all experience levels will also want to visit the UGA Extension Plant Market, where attendees can buy plants provided by Athens Wholesale Nursery. Adjacent to the market will be the Ask a Master Gardener booth, staffed by gardening experts eager to answer questions and share their horticulture knowledge.

Saturday is β€œFamily Day” at the Atlanta Home Show, and kids of all ages will want to participate in several fun activities including a free kids workshop presented by Home Depot. Another new, fun feature of this year’s show is β€œDirect Drone Drop-off” offered by Covered By Surfaces to raffle winners, weather permitting. Attendees may register to win a holiday rug. One per hour will be given away and delivered to the Galleria parking area by drone for easy transport home.

The Fall Atlanta Home Show features several exciting contests and promotions. Attendees can enter to meet Mike Rowe, creator and host of Discovery Channel’s β€œDirty Jobs”. Winners will receive airfare and hotel accommodations to meet Rowe at the Minneapolis Home & Garden Show in February 2020. Details may be found at www.FallAtlantaHomeShow.com.

Marketplace Events is partnering with Rowe’s foundation, the mikeroweWORKS Foundation, which awards Work Ethic Scholarships to students pursuing a career in the skilled trades. Since 2008 when Rowe launched the foundation, he has led the charge to help close America’s widening skills gap – an issue directly impacting the home improvement industry.

β€œThrough the foundation, we are committed to supporting the local builders, remodelers, installers, repairmen and all skilled tradespeople who do the jobs that most people are unable or untrained to do,” said Rowe. β€œThere aren’t many places left like these local home shows where homeowners can meet with their local experts, get trusted advice, talk price, look the experts in the eye, shake their hands and decide for themselves, yes, I’m good with letting this company into my home.”

Friday, Sept. 27 is Hero Day at the Atlanta Home Show, when active military, veterans, fire, police and first responders with valid ID are invited to enjoy the Show free of charge. Sept. 27 is also Trade Day, sponsored by PMC Pros. On Friday only, members of the housing industry will be admitted for free by presenting their business card at the box office. And finally, on Friday, Sept. 27, the Fall Atlanta Home Show will celebrate β€œTeacher Appreciation Day”. All educators and school employees are invited to attend the show free of charge on Friday by presenting a valid school ID at the Show box office.
