Georgia Weather Forecast: Highs In The 60s And Some Rain

ATLANTA, GA — On Friday, Georgia's General Beauregard Lee (like some other groundhog in Pennsylvania) predicted we'd have six more weeks of winter. Well, from this work week's weather forecast for metro Atlanta, you wouldn't know it.

High temperatures are forecast to get back up into the 60s at least twice this week. And the showers that metro Atlanta will be getting all throughout the week will probably make things feel like spring — at least a little bit.

After a high of around 50 degrees on Monday, the temperature is expected to get up to about 62 on Tuesday and 63 on Wednesday. It won't get quite that warm later in the week, but we're still looking at highs in the upper-50s on Thursday and Friday.

The middle of the week is when the rain is most likely, according to the National Weather Service. A 10 percent chance of rain around 5 p.m. on Tuesday will blossom into an 80 percent chance overnight.

Then, it's a 100 percent chance of showers on Wednesday, dropping down to about a 30 percent chance on Wednesday night. As we get closer to the weekend, things should clear up with no rain in the forecast on Thursday or Friday — though a 50-percent chance of showers pops back up on Friday night.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 50. North wind 5-10 m.p.h. becoming west in the afternoon, with gusts as high as 15 m.p.h. Monday night, mostly clear, with a low around 38. Calm wind.

Tuesday: A 10 percent chance of rain after 5 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. Tuesday night, showers, mainly after 1 a.m. Low around 51. Southeast wind 5-10 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 15 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Wednesday: Showers. High near 63. Southeast wind 10-15 m.p.h becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. A 30 percent chance of showers Wednesday night. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 56. Thursday night, mostly clear, with a low around 36.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 58. A 50 percent chance of showers Friday night. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44.
