MARIETTA, GA — He really should have crossed at the light.
An Atlanta man stopped for jaywalking across Delk Road was arrested by Marietta police when he was identified as the same person they believe broke into four police cars in August, police said.
Yavin Clarke Jackson, 21, broke into six vehicles — four of them Cobb County police cruisers — on Aug. 7 at Pugmire Mercury on South Cobb Parkway, police said. The police cars were there for maintenance.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, personal items were taken from all six vehicles. In addition, a camera system was removed from one of the police cars. All of the police cars had their windows shattered and their trunks damaged.
Using security video, Marietta police said they were able to identify Jackson and obtain a warrant for his arrest.

When authorities stopped him Sept. 4 for allegedly jaywalking across Delk Road near Interstate 75, police said, Jackson tried to conceal his identity by giving the wrong date of birth, but to no avail.
Jackson was arrested and charged with entering an auto, burglary and interfering with government property. He was also wanted by Atlanta police on charges of theft by receiving and obstruction, police said.
Jackson was still in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center as of Monday afternoon.
