Trumpet Festival of the Southeast Comes to KSU
Jan. 31 β Feb. 1 event features guest artists and free concerts

The Kennesaw State University School of Music will host the 2020 Trumpet Festival of the Southeast on January 31 and February 1, 2020. The festival, which will take place in the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center and KSU Student Center, offers musical opportunities for musicians and music lovers alike, including guest artist presentations, featured speakers, masterclasses, and special concerts and recitals.
βThe festival attracts trumpet students, adult amateurs and professionals from throughout the region to this great university,β said Dr. Doug Lindsey, KSU Assistant Professor of Trumpet. βFestival participants have the opportunity to learn directly from world-renowned performers, while the community is invited to enjoy special performances.β
Registration is required to participate in the festival, but the public is welcome to attend two free festival concerts in the Bailey Performance Center. On January 31 at 8 p.m. the KSU Faculty Jazz Parliament featuring Melvin Jones will take the stage. On February 1 at 8 p.m. the Trumpet Festival of the Southeast Finale Concert will feature a cast of world-renowned trumpeters, including JosΓ© Sibaja, Paul Merkelo, Melvin Jones, Brian Shaw, Doug Lindsey, and Ryan Moser, as well as the Kennesaw State University Wind Ensemble and the Georgia Brass Band.
