Lassiter High School’s Trojan Marching Band has returned to the Christmas tree selling business, and is hoping to see you stop by their temporary tree farm soon.

The band’s annual fundraiser kicked off on Friday and runs until Dec. 12 inside the parking lot of the Publix on Sandy Plains Road, the Lassiter Band Booster Association’s website reports. The lot is open from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, noon to 9 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Organizers hope to sell 500 trees and wreaths before Dec. 12 and are well on their way to meeting that goal, a boosters association spokesman told Patch.

“We are at about 200 sold now and so we are hoping for a big weekend,” fundraiser co-chairman Steve Tadeo said.
The weather is predicted to be great. We have band performances planned.”

Spokeswoman Sharon Renaud told Patch that the Lassiter Color Guard may join the marching band for a surprise performance some time this weekend. The booster association will post the dates and times of performances on its website.

Renaud said that 200 fresh trees are expected on the lot Thursday, and added that all customers will get a complimentary tree trimming and help loading their newly-purchased tree for transport. Trees can be delivered to customers’ homes for an extra fee.

Proceeds from those trees will go directly back to the band, Tadeo said. Some of the proceeds will help the band buy instruments, for example.
