Marietta Football Coach Steps Down
Scott Burton is resigning from Marietta High School's head coaching job after six seasons, according to Marietta City Schools.

MARIETTA, GA -- Marietta High School’s head football coach is resigning after six seasons at the helm, Marietta City Schools announced Thursday.
“Scott Burton has elected to resign from the MHS’ Head Football coach position,” the school system said in a statement. “His contributions to MCS over the years are appreciated. He has had positive and lasting impact on our student athletes as well as future athletes with his initiation and development of the Marietta Youth Football League.”
Burton’s Blue Devils went 3-7 during his most recent campaign and were three games under .500 in the 65 games Burton coached. The Blue Devils made back-to-back state playoff appearances in 2012 and 2013.

The Blue Devils have only had 13 head coaches since they began playing football in 1920, the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
The head coaching position will soon be made available for new applicants, Marietta City Schools said.
