Marietta Square to Ring in 2016

The last evening of 2015 will be capped off by a 'ball' drop in the heart of Marietta Square.

MARIETTA, GA -- Marietta residents can celebrate the coming of 2016 in style during the first-ever new year’s celebrations on Marietta Square,.

The square will come alive with music, food, football, and more starting at 8 p.m. and going well into the new year, according to the city. A “ball” (actually a cube) drop will ring in the new year at Cherokee and Mill streets.

The night will also feature ice Sculpting, a resolution wall, cosmic golfing, and a kiss cam. Family friendly activities will run until 7 p.m. and will be capped off with the Chick-fil-A Children’s Cow Drop.

The Whiskey Gentry will perform from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m., according to the city. Front-row tickets for the performance cost $150.

Uber is offering to people that have never signed up before to get a free ride (up to $20) using the code ”MariettaNYE,” the city says.
