Nearby: Marietta Baby First of 2015 at Northside Hospital

Amelia Luna Childs entered the world at 10 seconds past midnight on Jan. 1

The first baby born at Northside Hospital in 2015 was born to a Marietta couple.

According to Northside Hospital’s Katherine G. Watson, Veronica Landaverde and her fiance Austin Childs welcomed Amelia Luna Childs into the world at 12:00:10 on Jan. 1. Amelia weighed in at seven pounds, four ounces and is just over 20 inches long.

Veronica was originally supposed to give birth on Christmas Day, but doctors had to induce labor on New Year’s Eve. When she still hadn’t given birth by 11 p.m., doctors decided to perform a caesarian section.

“When they told us that we were going back to get a c-section... I looked up at the clock and it was about 11:30 and I thought it was going to be close, but I didn’t know it’d be that close,” said Austin.

Both mother and baby are doing well, Watson confirmed.
