Open-Air Ice Skating Rink Debuts Soon
The rink in Marietta Square will be one of several holiday events planned for the heart of the city.

Visitors to Marietta Square will soon have a chance to put on a pair of ice skates and enjoy time on the city’s first-ever outdoor rink.
The rink, being built in the southwest corner of Glover Park, is part of the Winter Wonderland at Marietta Square, a Christmas-themed series of events taking over the heart of the city for the holiday season.
The rink opens on Friday and will remain open until Jan. 4. Hours are 4:30 p.m - 10 p.m Monday through Thursday; 4:30 p.m. - 11 p.m Friday; 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. Saturday; and noon-10 p.m. Sundays. The rink will be open later during school breaks. Admission costs $12 and includes a skate rental.

Other events planned for the wonderland include toy workshops, a New Year’s Eve ball drop for kids, a menorah lighting, and a visit from Santa Claus himself on Dec. 3. The city’s Christmas Tree will be lit during Santa’s visit.
“We are working hard to create a magical Holiday experience, to provide the setting that will build cherished memories that will last a lifetime. It’s an honor to be a part of it all.”, says Jenny King, a local artist, owner of Red Door Art Gallery & Studio and a member of the team facilitating this event, in a statement.
