The 10-year-old also had to be given several rabies shots.

A Gwinnett County girl received 26 stitches to her face and four rabies shots following a dog attack in Hall County on Friday.

Amanda Bergin, 10, was visiting a home in Gainesville when she asked to pet a dog described as a pit bull. At that time, Amanda said the dog attacked her, according to WSB-TV.

The dog could not immediately tested for rabies, so the rabies shot for Amanda were required. By Monday evening, WSB-TV reported the dog's owner had turned the animal in to officials and received a citation for not having proof of rabies inoculation.
