Earthquake Confirmed In Gwinnett County On Sunday Morning

The 2.3 magnitude quake hit near Lilburn in Gwinnett County, Georgia, at 4:20 a.m. Sunday.

GWINNETT, GA — It was a shaky morning in Gwinnett County Sunday as the United States Geological Survey recorded a 2.3 magnitude earthquake near Lilburn at 4:20 a.m.

The quake had a depth of around three miles and was centered 18 miles northeast of Atlanta, according to the Center for Earthquake Research and Information at the University of Memphis.

The earthquake in Gwinnett wasn't the only unexpected weather occurrence to happen in the area on Sunday, as both a Freezing Fog Advisory for North Georgia and the Dense Fog Advisory for Central Georgia were recently extended.
