GA Primary Update: More Gwinnett Precincts Stay Open Late

Fifteen more precincts were added to the list Gwinnett County kept open past 7 p.m.

UPDATE: Fifteen more Gwinnett County precincts were held open until 7:30 p.m. in response to a request from an election-protection group.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law originally had asked Judge George Hutchinson to keep those precincts open until 10 p.m.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Two Gwinnett precincts that opened a little late for Tuesday's primary are also closing a little late.

Two dozen precincts in Gwinnett County had their polling equipment delivered late, said county spokesperson Joe Sorenson to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Most opened on time by issuing emergency paper ballots, but two waited until their equipment was set up to open.

The two precincts are:

  • Beaver Ruin Baptist Church in Norcross, to close at at 7:14 p.m.
  • Kanoheda Elementary School in Lawrenceville, to close at 7:20 p.m.

Sorenson said lines were not "extraordinarily long" at most Gwinnett County precincts.
