GAINESVILLE, GA – A Gainesville man remained in the Hall County Jail Tuesday morning after being arrested by Hall County Sheriff’s deputies on charges of child molestation and felony sexual battery over the weekend.
Robert Lewis Chandler, 65, was taken into custody on the same day at his home at 2129-A Memorial Park Drive.
An adult relative of the four-year-old girl victim took her to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Saturday. A member of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded and began investigating the abuse.

During the investigation, police determined Chandler did "repeated immoral and indecent acts to the victim at a residence in the county." The abuse happened between Sept. of last year and the time of the arrest. Chandler was familiar with the victim, according to police.
Chandler waived his committal hearing at his first appearance Monday. He’s being held at the Hall County Jail without bond.
