I-85 Blocked in Gwinnett Tuesday After Prison-Bus Accident

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Southbound traffic on Interstate 85 was blocked for about an hour early Tuesday morning after an accident involving a prison transport bus.

One prisoner was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Gwinnett police spokesperson Cpl. Collin Flynn as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. All other prisoners were transferred to another vehicle after the crash, which occurred at about 5 a.m. near Sugarloaf Parkway.

The bus belonged to Phillips State Prison, a medium-security facility in Buford.
