Police Investigate Deadly Shooting That Led To College Lockdown
Police said the victim was found dead with at least one gunshot wound.
GWINNETT, GA — Police in Gwinnett are investigating the Thursday morning shooting that left one person dead and caused the nearby Georgia Gwinnett College campus to go on lockdown.
In a news release, authorities said the shooting was reported at an apartment complex at 855 Walther Boulevard just after 10 a.m.
When officers arrived, a man with at least one gunshot wound was found lying dead at the bottom of a staircase, police said.

Investigators are working to determine why the man was at the apartment complex, police said. Witnesses and anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact police.

The campus lockdown was lifted just before noon on Thursday after police declared the area safe.
