Upcoming Job Fairs: CareerFest in Norcross, Jobs for Veterans and More

Unemployment continues to be a real challenge for millions of Americans, including those here in Gwinnett County.

Most recently, the state Department of Labor announced that the jobless rate had increased to 8.2 percent in May, up from 7.6 percent in the previous month. New data is expected before the end of the month.

To assist Gwinnett County job seekers, Patch has pulled together a brief list of several upcoming job fairs in and around metro Atlanta.*

Sodexo

• When: 3 p.m. - 5 p.m., July 17
• Where: Kennesaw State University, 1000 Chastain Road, Building 40, Kennesaw
• What: Sodexo is looking to hire for more than 50 entry level positions, including cooks, bakers, storeroom workers, and more. For more information, click here.
  

• When: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., July 17
• Where: Clairmont Presbyterian Church, 1994 Clairmont Road, Decatur
• What: Bring several copies of updated resume, and dress to impress. No registration required for job seekers. For more information and a list of employers, click here.

• When: 9:15 a.m. - 1 p.m., July 18
• Where: Norcross First United Methodist Church, 2500 Beaver Ruin Road, Norcross
• What: More than 50 employers will be present at the job fair. This is the seventh year for the CareerFest. In addition to being able to talk to employers, there will also be seminars and workshops. For more information, including a list of employers, click here.

• When: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., July 18
• Where: Cobb Cherokee Career Center, 465 Big Shanty Road, Marietta
• What: Alorica, a customer management provider with operations in Kennesaw, will be interviewing for call center representatives. More than 100 positions are available. Pay is $9 an hour. For more information, click here.

• When: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., July 23
• Where: Georgia Department of Labor's North Metro Career Center, 2943 North Druid Hills Road, Atlanta
• What: There will be in-person interviews to fill security officer positions. Pay is $8 - $11 an hour. Must have your own transportation. For more information, click here.
