Where To Recycle Your Christmas Tree In Gwinnett

Gwinnett County residents can recycle their Christmas trees at "Bring One for the Chipper" events at fire stations and a Suwanee park.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — The holidays are over and it's time to take the lights and ornaments off your Christmas tree and dispose of it.

If you live in Gwinnett County, you can recycle your tree at "Bring One for the Chipper" drives at county fire stations through Sunday, Jan. 20, according to the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, which is leading the statewide recycling effort.

If you live in Suwanee, you can take your tree to a Bring One for the Chipper event from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Sims Lake Park, 4600 Suwanee Dam Road.

Each year, the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation works with private sponsors to organize Bring One for the Chipper events around the state.

Since its inception, the Chipper program has recycled an estimated 6 million Christmas trees, according to the foundation. The program transforms trees into mulch for playgrounds, city and county landscaping projects, and individual homes. Many communities also choose to sink the trees into lakes to create fish habitats.
