2 Killed In Lawrenceville Crash On Christmas Eve: Reports

A collision Monday on Johnson Road in Lawrenceville left two people dead, another motorist critically injured, say media reports.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Two people died and another person sustained serious injuries in a Christmas Eve collision on Johnson Road in Lawrenceville, according to media reports. Lawrenceville police officers responded at about 4:15 p.m. Monday to the scene of the accident, in the 200 block of Johnson Road at Grayland Hills Drive, between Lawrenceville Highway and Five Forks Road, WXIA-TV 11Alive reported.

The two people who died in the crash were identified in media reports as Saad Varney of Lawrenceville and Dionte Jordan of Decatur; both were 34.

The Lawrenceville police said that Varney was driving a silver Acura west on Johnson Road when he lost control and veered into the eastbound lane, hitting a black Mercedes, according to media reports.

Varney and Jordan were pronounced dead at the scene, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported, and the driver of the Mercedes was taken to the Gwinnett Medical Center in critical condition.
