26 Vehicles Broken Into During 2-Hour Spree: Gwinnett Police

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA —Gwinnett County Police say three men broke into 26 vehicles in unincorporated Lawrenceville early Tuesday morning. The department posted surveillance camera images of the suspects on Twitter in hopes that the public can identify the thieves.,>

Between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Jan. 14, the vehicles were broken into in the parking lots of several hotels and apartment complexes. Investigators said the suspects were driving a black SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee with blacked-out rims and a long sticker on the top portion of the rear window.

Witnesses and surveillance footage described the suspects as black males black jackets or a hoodie and wearing tennis shoes.

In most cases, thieves smashed a vehicle window to get inside; and wallets were taken in the majority of the break-ins.

Police reminded residents not to leave purses, wallets, electronics, weapons and other valuables in their vehicles, especially when they are parked outside overnight. Having nothing visible may help deter thieves from breaking into your vehicle.
