LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – The cause of an apartment fire Monday is unknown after 15 units were damaged on the 3500 block of Club Drive NW in unincorporated Lawrenceville. No humans or pets were found to be injured.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke pushing up and out of the attic on the back side of the apartments. Occupants were already in the process of evacuation when fire trucks arrived. The blaze started venting the roof of the building. Crews began an aggressive interior attack and were met with heavy fire involvement and poor visibility due to smoke. Per the incident commander, two breezeways were impacted by the intense flames as the fire began spreading to the front of the building.
Multiple units have been deemed to be at a total loss. Significant smoke, heat, and water damage is noted to several adjoining units. The American Red Cross has been requested to provide assistance. Property management is actively working to determine the exact number of occupants that have been displaced from the fifteen damaged units.
