Asian-Americans Struggle Against Upsurge in Hate Crimes

There is no satisfactory answer for the prejudice against Asians by their fellow citizens.

Robert Aaron Long, a 21-year-old male had attacked three spas and killed six Asian women and two Asian men in Cherokee County, Atlanta on Wednesday. All of the victims were Asian. Another community has once again been targeted just because of their color/race. This ruthless and barbaric act left us devastated and heartbroken. We pray for the families and the loved ones of the victims.

There is no satisfactory answer for the prejudice against Asians by their fellow citizens. It is distressing to see that hate crimes against people of color continue to happen while these horrific acts should not have any place in our civilized society. In the countless racial assaults that have occurred in the past half-century, the tale is one of unending abuse. It is time to grow up and be more receptive to sensitivities of other races. Racism is a societal problem and we all should work together to address the root causes of this since one’s religion, race or color should not decide one’s fate.
