Duluth Boy Dies While Playing With Guns: Police
A 13-year-old boy died Wednesday when a firearm held by his friend accidentally went off in the boy's apartment, say Gwinnett police.

DULUTH, GA — A 13-year-old boy died Wednesday evening when his friend accidentally shot him while they were playing with guns in the boy's apartment, according to the Gwinnett County police. Officers responded at 5:30 p.m. to the report of a person shot at the Portico Apartments at 2110 Preston Park Drive in the Duluth area. They found the boy, identified as Jair Gonzalez, bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound, according to a police report.
They rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he died as a result of his wound, the police said.
Jair's friend, a 14-year-old boy, was charged as a juvenile with reckless conduct, the police said. They did not release his name or hometown.

The police determined that the two boys were playing with guns in Jair's apartment when the "friend’s gun accidentally fired a shot and struck Jair," they said in the report. They did not describe the type of firearm involved in the shooting.
