LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- The Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on Monday, April 22. The collision occurred around 10 a.m. at the intersection of Duluth Highway and Lebanon Road in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

Robert Hutchins, 80, of Lawrenceville, was the driver of a silver Mercury Grand Marquis. He had one occupant in the vehicle with him. Carol Hutchins, 75, was seated in the front passenger side.

Edward Duran, 48, of Lawrenceville, was the driver of a silver BMW 328i.

Ming Zheng, 25, of Lawrenceville, was driver of a black Toyota Rav4.

According to the preliminary police investigation, Robert Hutchins was turning left from Duluth Highway on to Lebanon Road. He turned into the path of the silver BMW, and the two vehicles collided. The silver Mercury Grand Marquis was struck on the passenger side where Carol was seated. Following the initial impact, the Grand Marquis rotated and struck Ming Zheng in the black Toyota Rav4 who was preparing to make a right turn.

Robert Hutchins, Carol Hutchins, and Edward Duran were all transported to the hospital with injuries.

On Wednesday, April 24, Robert Hutchins passed away. It is believed that his death was related a medical condition, but his cause of death is still under investigation.

On Saturday, April 27, Carol Hutchins died as a result of her injuries in this collision.
