Firefighters Respond to Gas Leak, Major Lawrenceville Road Shut Down

Emergency crews closed down a major Lawrenceville street due to a gas leak on Friday.

Gwinnett County firefighters were dispatched to 377 West Pike Street, where there was a two-inch natural gas line leak reported in the early afternoon, said Lt. Colin Rhoden, fire department spokesman.

Lawrenceville police shut down traffic, while firefighters protected the area until utility crews arrived, Rhoden said.

At about 1:10 p.m., roads were reopened to traffic, he added, and "all units returned to service after checking businesses for an all clear."
