GA Primary: Car Runs Into Line Of Voters, One Woman Injured

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A driver believed to be suffering a medical emergency drove into a line of people waiting to vote in Tuesday’s primary. One woman was slightly injured and is expected to recover.

Witnesses at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville told Channel 2 Action News that the driver had been standing in line and had just asked about paper ballots. He then got into his vehicle, drove over the curb into the line of voters, and then off the grass and down the street. Gwinnett County Police said they believed he had a medical emergency.

“He just sped really fast,” witness Racquel Moore said to Action News.

“My friend said she saw him as he pulled up and he looked like he was going side to side,” said witness Tameika Hampton.

A waiting voter chased the driver and found him in a nearby subdivision, according to Action News. It’s not clear whether the driver will face charges.
