Georgetown Football Player From Atlanta Charged With Murder

Georgetown University football player Dijon Williams, originally from Atlanta, was arrested Monday evening.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — U.S. Marshals have arrested a Georgetown University football player wanted by Metro Police in Washington, D.C. for first-degree murder. According to Fox 5, Dijon Williams, originally from Atlanta, was located Monday evening and arrested at a private residence in Gwinnett County.

Following the news of his arrest, the university "immediately suspended" the Georgia native from its football team and issued the following statement:

"While we are working to learn more information, we will cooperate fully with any investigation and we stand prepared to offer resources to members of our community who may be affected by the news. At this time, there are no indications that the alleged crime took place near the university."

Little is known about the circumstances which led to the charge against Williams. After his arrest, he was reportedly transported to a federal holding facility.

Williams went to Miller Grove High School in Lithonia, according to a biography on the Georgetown University athletic department website. He served as a team captain for Miller Grove as a senior, the biography states.

As a junior, he appeared in five games. An injury prevented Williams from playing his sophomore year. As a freshman, Williams appeared in 10 games, according to the school's football program and logged 33 yards in four catches.
