Georgia Gwinnett College Welcomes Record-Breaking Number of Students

Growth and change are the normal state at Georgia Gwinnett College, and the 2016 fall semester will be exception. The college continues to make strategic changes to better serve its expanding student body. GGC will see record-breaking enrollment when about 13,000 students begin classes Monday.

“Most of this year’s changes revolve around providing better service for students,” said Dr. Stas Preczewski, president. “From dining to information security, there are few aspects of the student experience that will not be impacted by the enhancements we are making this semester.”

The college will open its newly completed expansion of Building C, which more than doubled the size of the previous structure. New classrooms and offices will help meet instruction needs and accommodate moving academic functions and faculty offices to the center of campus where students are better served.

The deans’ offices for the schools of Business, Education and Transitional Studies have moved into Building C. Students will benefit from the tutoring and other support services provided by an expanded Academic Enhancement Center in Building C. The college’s Honors Program will relocate to Building B.Non-academic functions, such as the offices of Public Relations and Digital Communications will move to Building I.

GGC is completing a long-awaited pedestrian pathway between Buildings A and D, and enhancing its dining services. A new Moe’s will open for fall semester, and renovations in the campus dining hall will accommodate expanded seating as well as meal options.

Other notable additions include a private lactation facility in the library and a campus Weatherbug station for those who want to check campus conditions.

Future plans include installing a Memorial Garden for remembering members of the Grizzly community, and the construction of the fourth phase of Building C.
