Georgia Man Gets 5-Year Prison Sentence For Stabbing Pig

Not all pigs, apparently, are created equal.

A Georgia man has been sentenced to five years in prison for stabbing a pig named Oliver that had wandered away from home, The Savannah Morning News reports.

As a pot-belly pig with a name would suggest, Oliver was a pet, and Benjamin Lee Fullwood's claims of self-defense were shot down partly by logic and mostly by a video of him stabbing the animal 23 times.

Fullwood, 24, of Springfield, was sentenced on Thursday after finally admitting that he had stabbed the pig last year in Effingham County and set his pit bulls loose to attack him, the paper reported.

Assistant District Attorney Brian Deal told the Morning News that a video a concerned bystander took was played in court, but Superior Court Judge John R. Turner stopped the video before it was done.

“He could not finish watching it,” Deal told the paper.

Fullwood's  claims of self-defense didn't hold up to the video.

“There was not much defense going on,” Deal said. “It’s a horrible thing to watch.”

The pig recovered from his injuries.

Fullwood pleaded guilty on March 13 to two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of false statements.
